Driver’s Licenses
To apply for a California driver’s license, visit the DMV office. You must bring the following with you:
- Original application form DL 44 (available by mail or at any DMV location)
- Social Security number
- Birth date and legal presence verification
- $31 application fee
Your thumb print and a photo will be taken while in the office. A traffic laws and sign test will also be administered. See the Website for more information.
Identification Cards
To apply for a California identification card, visit the DMV office. You must bring the following with you:

- $26 application fee

Appointments
For quicker service, make an appointment online. Appointments for behind-the-wheel driving tests are not available online. A separate appointment is required for each person and service. For special appointments, call (800) 777-0133.
